Scafell Pike

26th September 2015

Following on from the great success of last year’s Ben Nevis hike, on the 26th of September this year, we will be scaling England’s highest peak – Scafell Pike. The walk will start on the Saturday morning and take most of the day, however, you are invited to come and join us on the Friday and Saturday nights also where we will be staying over in the area for a time of good cheer. We will be in touch nearer the time with accommodation advice. Alternatively, you are welcome to join us for the hike only; it is within driving distance from the Borders for a 1 day trip.

UPDATE:
Ok so we are firming up plans for our trip to tackle Scafell pike later this month on the weekend of 25th/26th/27th of September. On Saturday the 26th we shall be starting the hike at 10am from a little place called Langdale near Ambleside ; Assembly point Car Park at Old Dungeon Ghyll Pub in Langdale – GR NY 286060 – Postcode LA22 9JY

The hike will be 18km in length and should take us roughly 7 hours to complete.

We have decided that a good base for the weekend will be Ambleside as there are plenty of places to stay and places to meet up for food and drinks etc pre/post hike. There are many guesthouses and B&B’s in Ambleside along with a couple of Youth Hostels one of which is here – http://www.amblesidehostel.co.uk/ .There are campsites near by so that would be an option too but would perhaps require a drive in to Ambleside. We will leave it up to everyone to organise their own accomodation as that will be easiest but perhaps an email letting us know your intentions would help to coordinate some idea of travel and accommodation matters. There will be a group of us staying over on the Friday and Saturday nights so you are welcome to join us for both nights, just one or of course neither if you decide you would want to travel up and down on the Saturday only.

Langdale is a 2hr 20 min drive from Hawick and 3hr 30 min from Edinburgh so it is within striking distance should you decide to travel down first thing on the Saturday morning for a 10 am start. Obviously with this kind of travel time it would be good to share transport as much as possible so please get in touch regarding this also.

If you have any questions regarding this weekend away then please get in touch via email.

All the very best
